Lasagna with MouCo ColoRouge cheese and sausage is a rich, hearty, and flavorful dish with a variety of textures. The noodles are soft and chewy, the sauce is smooth and saucy, the cheeses are gooey and melted, and the spinach is tender. The earthy, unique flavor of colorouge adds a delicious and satisfying touch to this classic dish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 (10 ounce) package spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup MouCo ColoRouge cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, spinach, and 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce mixture in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Top with 6 lasagna noodles, overlapping as needed.
  8. Spread with half of the ricotta cheese mixture.
  9. Top with half of the remaining tomato sauce mixture.
  10. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of the Parmesan cheese and 1/4 cup of the MouCo ColoRouge cheese.
  11. Repeat layers.
  12. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  13. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  14. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
