A custardy slice of French toast hides molten truffle MouCo Camembert and sweet apple inside. Is it brunch? Is it dessert? Who cares—it’s outrageous.
🧂 Ingredients
Serves 4
8 slices thick-cut bread (brioche or challah recommended)
4 oz MouCo Truffle Camembert, sliced
1 large apple, thinly sliced
4 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Butter or oil for cooking
Powdered sugar and maple syrup (optional, for serving)
👣 Instructions
Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
Prepare the custard: whisk eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla in a shallow dish.
Take one slice of bread, place a slice of MouCo Truffle Camembert and some apple slices on top, then cover with another bread slice to make a sandwich. Repeat for remaining slices.
Dip each sandwich into the custard mixture, ensuring both sides soak well.
Cook sandwiches in the skillet, adding butter or oil as needed, until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted, about 3–4 minutes per side.
Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with maple syrup if desired.
🎯 Notes & Pairings
Cheese tip: Let the Truffle Camembert come to room temperature before slicing for easier melting.
Apple swap: Try pears or quince for a seasonal twist.
Drink pairing: Pair with a sparkling wine or robust coffee for brunch vibes.
