Southern-style biscuits with MouCo ColoRouge

Flaky, golden biscuits laced with melted MouCo ColoRouge—earthy, gooey, and bold. Serve with gravy, saucy mains, or a smear of butter.

🧂 Ingredients

Makes ~ 8 biscuits

    • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
    • 1 tbsp baking powder
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/2 cup (1 stick / 113g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
    • 3/4 cup (180ml) cold buttermilk
    • 1/2 round MouCo ColoRouge, cut into small chunks
    • Optional: melted butter for brushing tops

👣 Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
    3. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingers until pea-sized crumbs form.
    4. Add buttermilk and stir until dough just comes together. Fold in ColoRouge chunks.
    5. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Pat into a 1-inch thick slab and cut with a biscuit cutter.
    6. Place biscuits on sheet, brush with melted butter if desired.
    7. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden and puffed. Serve warm.
